SAGE WHOLE EXTRACT

«Sage (Salvia officinalis). Main activities: antispasmodic; eupeptic; antiseptic, antisweating; wound healing. Therapeutic use: dyspepsia, gastro-intestinal atony, hyperhidrosis (increased sweating), menstrual disorders.
Sage, which is known since ancient times for being a panacea, has undoubtedly an antispasmodic and cholagogue-choleretic … action.
It is used to relieve functional digestive disorders, in excessive perspiration and in the topical treatment of inflammation of the nasal mucosa, throat, pharynx, gums and mouth.
The extracts of Sage are considered effective antioxidants, able to inhibit lipid peroxidation, and therefore cell degeneration.
In addition, an antimicrobial activity has been reported.… It is used as a bitter tonic for the symptomatic treatment of digestive disorders such as epigastric heaviness, slow digestion, bloating, flatulence, etc.
It seems to help lower blood sugar in individuals with diabetes …… to improve intellectual performance and recovery of physical fitness, … enhance memory processes and prevent Alzheimer's. … It may block the acetylcholinesterase enzyme, consequently obviating the deficiency of acetylcholine characteristic of such states.
In its phytocomplex, the presence of substances with benzodiazepine-like activity activities (high affinity for GABA receptors) have been reported. Sage is known as an antisweating plant… the effect of which occurs a few hours after consuming the plant and may last several days ….
Sage preparations may have a real effect in regularising menstrual clycle, calm painful reactions and alleviate menopause complaints …» [1].

«Sage relieves bloating, intestinal colic, nausea, diarrhoea and fight off intestinal parasites. It also has an astringent and slightly antiseptic effect, useful in inflammation of the respiratory tract, the gastrointestinal tract and the oesophagus. The astringent action is also useful in cases of throat and mouth inflammation (used for gargling). In the form of packs and compresses, it is used in the case of slow-to-heal wounds. Sage has a tonic effect on the reproductive female apparatus and is indicated in scarce and delayed periods, in dysmenorrhoea and infertility.
