FENNEL WHOLE EXTRACT

«Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) seeds. Main activities: aromatic stimulant, digestive, carminative, antispasmodic and antiseptic, galactagogue.
Therapeutic use: dyspeptic disorders, meteorism, spasms of the gastrointestinal tract, inflammation of the respiratory system.
Fennel fruits (seeds) have always been used not only in adults but also in children, in dyspepticdisorders, in meteorism and to treat the spasms of the gastrointestinal tract.
Thanks to its stimulating-aromatic properties, they have a positive influence on the gastrointestinal tract, increase motility and gastric secretion, saliva and choleresis, improving the tone of these apparatuses and thus promoting digestive processes. They also show an important spasmolytic action which can reduce gastroenteric spasms ….
In the respiratory tract, they favour the cleansing of the mucous membranes as they show a secretolitic and bacteriostatic action. … Fennel preparations may therefore be useful in inflammation of the respiratory tract as expectorants. The EU commission recognises such properties to fennel seeds and essential oil.
Fennel is traditionally used to treat dysmenorrhoea and stimulate lactation (along with Goat's rue, Anise and Fenugreek) …
Research has also demonstrated in vitro its antioxidant properties. In addition to the antibacterial properties, it also has insecticidal and ascaricide properties» [1].

«Actions: carminative, intestinal antiseptic, gastro-intestinal antispasmodic, slightly digestive, galactagogue, mucolytic. It is used in light gastrointestinal disorders of spastic type, which are accompanied by a sense of fullness, bloating and flatulence. Fennel is widely used in diarrhoea and gas colic in infants.
It has been experimentally shown to have secretolitic properties on the respiratory tract…. It is considered a mild expectorant, especially suitable for children. The galactagogue properties have been scientifically proven: Fennel stimulates the secretion of milk and increases breast size. This action on the mammary gland does not seem to involve other sexual organs » [2].
