«Cloves (Eugenia caryophyllata). INTERNAL USE. Properties: antiseptic energiser (1% emulsion of Cloves has a superior antiseptic power 3 to 4 times greater than that of phenol); exciting, uterine tonic during childbirth; stomachic and carminative, antineuralgic, antispasmodic; aphrodisiac, anticancer, vermifuge.
   - physical and mental debility (memory deficiency)
- preparation for childbirth, prevention of contagious and infectious diseases (formerly used against the plague)
- dyspepsia, gastric fermentation, diarrhoea, flatulence
- lung diseases (tuberculosis)
- dental neuralgia

Essential oil: 1 to 4 drops, 3 times a day on a sugar cube [or with honey, hot milk or a little sugar or directly on the affected part: put a few drops of essential oil (1%), diluted in vegetable oil, and gently massage to help absorption]].
[Cloves] EXTERNAL USE. Properties: antiseptic, parasiticide. Indications: scabies, sores, infected wounds, leg ulcers, dental neuralgia; lupus; mosquito and clothes-moth repellent.
Once used for disinfecting the hands of surgeons, midwives, nurses … [1 drop in a dental decay]. This essence was used to treat trivial sores, bruisings, infected wounds, leg ulcers by padding the abscess cavity with a gauze swab moistened with pure or diluted essential oil, … an excellent medication of the umbilical cord: it is neither toxic nor irritating, and has a certain analgesic power. Diluted in alcoholic solution (5-10%), it can be rubbed to treat lupus. » [1].
