CLIMBING IVY WHOLE EXTRACT

«Ivy (Hedera helix). Action: Expectorant-secretolitic, spasmolytic, mildly sedative, antibacterial, has a soothing action on the mucous membrane, emmenagogue.
External use: antirheumatic, anti-cellulite.
General therapeutic characteristics. It is known to induce menstruation (emmenagogue) … presence of an oestrogen-like substance. Ivy main and most common use, however, is in the field of respiratory diseases, where its expectorant, antispasmodic and secretolytic abilities are exploited, as well as in the presence of sub-acute and partially, obstructive chronic bronchitis (SACB)…
. Following pharmacological and laboratory studies, some isolated Ivy components have shown to have antifungal, antibacterial, antiprotozoal, anthelmintic, analgesic and sedative properties. Ivy is also reported to have the ability to stimulate the thyroid gland, increasing its hormonal secretion » [1].  

«Main activities: antispasmodic, expectorant, analgesic, astringent, anti-cellulite. Therapeutic use: catarrhal forms of the respiratory tract cough, pertussis; cellulite (external use). If you take it internally, Ivy is indicated in the treatment of bronchial forms thanks to its balsamic and expectorant action. In particular, it is used to calm coughing fits and spasmodic coughs. In asthmatic bronchial forms, it may result in an improvement in lung function. In the treatment of inflammatory processes and diseases of the upper respiratory tract and of chronic bronchitis symptoms caused by inflammation; in asthmatic bronchial forms in children. A pharmacovigilance study on 9657 patients of which 5181 children, indicates that a syrup containing extract of ivy leaves can effectively relieve the symptoms of acute and chronic bronchitis. Spasmolytic on the intestine. … Tradition ascribes emmenagogue properties to ivy. It also has antifungal (Candida albicans), amoebic, trichomonacide leishmanicidal and antibacterial properties » [2].
